Dengue Fever Awareness Programme

An awareness meeting on Dengue Fever was conducted on 01.09.2016 at our College. Dr.T.Raja Nandhini, Medical officer, Vadamalapuram, Sivakasi was the Guest speaker. II year Mechanical , II year Computer Engineering and III year Civil Engineering students attended the meeting.

The programme was started with prayer. Selvan.A.Vimalathithan, Volunteer welcomed the gathering. Mr.M.Nandakumar, Principal presided over the function. The speaker classified the types of fever, types of Mosquitoes, Three stages of dengue fever identification etc., with slide show. She explained about mosquitoes – it will be active in day time only. It breeds eggs in clear water only. The speaker warned the audience, if fever exceeds two days, they must get treatment in Hospital and they should take blood test. In level II, medicine is compulsory. In Level III blood may bleed from nose and body weakness leads to death also. Therefore we should keep our surrounding without stagnation of rain water or clear water. Water in tyres, plastic cup, coconut shell, flower pots are to be cleaned and water storage tanks and pots are to be covered with lid or cloth. Mr.Suresh, District project officer, Public Health Department, Virudhunagar also insist the awareness on Dengue fever. Mr.Jeyachandran, Block Health Supervisor Coordinated this meeting.
